Been a tad busy.

Let's start with our trip home back in October...

October 7-17
It was amazing. We went apple picking the first weekend we were home and Ben had a blast. He understodd everything about it too. He would walk up to the tree and go...Apple Tree and grab the apple off of the tree and throw it in the bag. Is favorite thing though was to pick the apple off the tree and then wipe it on his shirt and start eating it. It was the cutest thing ever. Of course after we're done with that he throws them back onto the ground. After apple picking we got pumpkins. We picked a good sized one out but we left it back in Illinois with Nana and Baba since they rot FAST down here in LA.

We got to see lots of little friends. Particularly Julia and Gabe. He loved seeing them again and playing with them. When he saw Julia for the first time his face was all lit up and he had no idea what to do. We had to tell them to hug and give kisses. haha. It was so cute. When he saw Gabe, Gabe was a little stand offish like "What the hell? You left and now you're back!? This is annoying" It was so cute. I also got to see my little babies. Sadie and Will. They are so big and amazing and I can't wait to see them at Christmas.

Got to spend lots of time with Jen and Joanna as well. Love love love them and miss miss missed them so much. I can't wait to see them at Christmas either. Our little ones are growing up so fast so it's exciting to be away for a while and then come back and see how amazing they are all doing.

October 30
Marine Corps Ball. It was one of the better ones that we had been too. The speech by the guest of honor was actually nice and easy to follow. It was a huge ball too. Afterwards we went down to bourbon st and hung out. Now it was the night before halloween so of course a lot of people and a lot of people dressed it. I don't get the hub of it, but at least I can say that I did it and walked around Bourbon St. I guess.

The downer of the night was when we found out the next day that a marine had died in the french quarter. He was defending his wife from a group of guys that were yelling obscene things out their car at her and she was yelling back. They got out of the car and started grabbing her and things like that. He was trying to get them away when one of the guys stabbed him mulitple times and then they fled. He died in the hospital, in his Marine Blues.

Another downer of the night is that we found out the monday after the ball that a marine was jumped. He was jumped by a group of guys and beat up and knocked out. They stole his blues blouse and he had to get 14 stitches.

The night was great but it sucks it had to end like that for 2 marines.

October 31
Benjamin was SUPERMAN for halloween. We actually walked around the base and Benjamin got lots of candy. Well actually he got lots of suckers. If they let him pick it out, he would immediately grabd the sucker. It was funny. Of course he has eaten them all sense but oh well.

November
Benjamin's officially a big boy. He has a big boy bed and his fully potty trained except for naptime and bed time. It's okay, that will come soon enough. He's growing up so fast and it makes me sad! I want my little tiny Benny boy back. haha. But he's doing great with everything and I'm getting really lucky. Now to just get the whining down that would be great.

That's all for now. I will try and get pictures uploaded onto here eventually but as of now you'll just have to use your imagination. :)

Tata for now!

Enjoying our new home.

I can't wait to go home in October.

Although, I am enjoying living here. Surprisingly we have all adjusted well and have been living here for 1 month and a half. I have surprised myself. I had one break down and that was when my parents left. We have barbeques every Saturday night and hang out with our friends that we have made here. It's awfully fun in all honesty.

Benjamin has a new friend named Wyatt. He just turned 1 on September 1st and we went to his birthday party last weekend. Ben seems a little stand-offish from him and I'm not sure if it's because he's been used to adults for the past month or if he is just a little more mature than him. Wyatt is definately a dare devil and an in your face kind of kid...Ben likes his space. Although, when we first met Julia she was all up in his space, but he was only 9 months then. Now he's 2 and knows what space is...? I mean Ben used to get in Gabe's space when we first started hanging out and he didn't like it but got used to it. I don't know, I'm just thinking out loud and panicing that he doesn't have friends yet. Ugh. Maybe we will just schedule playdates and everything will be okay.

We will be coming home October 8 to the 18!! October 8 to the 11 we are going to be in Twin Lakes, WI for Ryan Farrelly's apple picking weekend. It will be Kristian's first time and I'm super excited that he's coming! Then we will be home on October 11 probably in the afternoon. We are going to have to split time up from going to Kristian's grandparent's house and hanging out with friends at home though. I really can't wait to see what Julia, Gabe, and Ben do when they see eachother. I hope it will be like grand ole' times. I'm sure it will be. I also can't wait to see Jen and Joanna! I miss them so much. Also my twins...hehe. Jen said they are over 9lbs now. So they loook like Ben did when he was born! haha. That's weird to think about. I'm not sure who of the six pack will be home, but hopefully I'll get to see them a little bit. We are tottally unsure of our schedule. It's also Kristian's grandpa's 93rd birthday on Oct. 15 and they are also having a birthday party for him, so that's another reason we are coming home.

We tried potty training Ben. That was miserable. I was doing every 20 min on the potty and he had underwear on. I had to wrestle him the the potty at the end of the 20 min and he held his pee for 5 hours and then I put a diaper on him. He peed right away. So right now we are going on the potty before nap time and before bed just to get him used to it. But if he has underwear on, he won't pee...it's good.

We got a dog! Her name is Bella and when she's in trouble I call her Bella Faith. I don't know why, but it just comes out, haha. She's a Chihuahua/Terrier/Lab mix. I'm not sure how that happened, but it did! She will be like a terrier for her weight and height the vet said but she's very very playful like a lab and a little on the dumbfounded side for the chihuahua, haha. She's too cute though and I treat her like she's a newborn daughter. Definately spoil the hell out of her. Here she is!

Those pictures are when we first got her, she was 3lbs 5 oz. She's now 5lbs 13oz and I love her. Ben is playing tug o war with her right now with her as we speak. He was iffy about her at first but he's starting to learn to play with her and say no and tap her on the nose if she jumps on him. Becoming fast friends.

Signing out.

2 weeks later

And we have internet!

We have been living in Louisiana now for 2 whole weeks. The first week my parents were here which was always a load of fun. We had a first rough week. We got here on the 18th of July and didn't get ou stuff until the 26th of July. We were sleeping on an airmatress that was also our living room couch while Ben slept in his pack n play up in his room. Talk about a downer.

No need fear, our stuff is here. We are completely unpacked and in the process of putting pictures into picture frames that we got as wedding presents and hanging them up. I will then take pictures and send them to my friends and family.

Ben is adjusting really well suprisingly which has lifted basically the whole world off my shoulders it feels like. He doesn't really ask for anybody back home in Chicago unless he sees a picture of that person. But then he proceeds to tell me that they are at home and that we are at Benjamin's house (because yes, he's the one that goes to work and pays for everything not his father, haha).

We have also met a neighbor that has been awesome to talk to about things around here. They are really nice and really great. So we have enjoyed having people to talk to here.

We have already done a few things:
Lunch at O'Briens on bourbon street.
I do no like bourbon street I've decided.
Audobon Aquarium. So awesome.
River Walk downtown New Orleans.
Walked around around really old cemetery: Earliest birth 1804. Earliest Death: 2010.
Walked around the Garden District (did not find Sandra Bullocks house...ha. No we didn't look).

Hot and Humid. But all is well. We are liking it so far.

Short & sweet.

A quicky as some like to say.

Saturday is moving day. It is Thursday night at 10:57pm. Just finished up packing the last of what needed to be packed before the movers come tomorrow and officially move our lives out of this house. Holy hell. This is just all so unrealistic although the past 2 days I have went into total breakdown about pretty much everything. From being scared to Benjamin not being able to cope with the move. Things have just been amazing for us this past year and now we're starting all over it seems like in another place...15 hours and 950 miles away.

This will be my last post for about 2 weeks. Won't have internet access or computer access until then.

Have a good 2 weeks! I know mine will be filled with all sorts of new adventures.

My first lease.

Exactly a week from now, I will sign my first lease with my husband. HOLY HELL!

Not only will this be the first lease I will ever sign, but it will also be the first time I will ever live anywhere else but my parent's house. It's a little scary but after living in their house for two years with my husband and our son it's become kind of a hassle. I don't think we would be moving out right now if he hadn't been reasigned to another base somewhere else. It's okay though, all my friends had their college adventures to different countries, now I get my own adventure here in America to a place I never been with my family that I love dearly. I will enjoy is every step of the way.

In other news, this is one of Benjamin's best friends, Gabe. [Shout it out to JoJo]. I was looking at this picture today and realizeing how hard it's going to be on Ben. Sure I've tried explaining it to him, but I'm not sure if he understands it. Like our friend just had her twins, but was able to explain it all and show her that there will be two babies in a little while. She had her pregnant belly to help explain it as well. With Ben, I feel like it's going to be a little harder. Maybe I'm just crazy and he actually gets it, but I could be dead wrong. Guess only time will tell.

We leave July 6th at 4am to go sign our lease...holy hell.

And the countdown begins...

In less than a month, my family and I will be moving to Belle Chasse, LA from Chicago, IL. That's a 15 hour drive from here....

Who am I? Let me tell you.
I'm Therese and I recently got married to Kristian who is a Marine. We have a son named Benjamin who will be 2 on Monday! [June 21st]. 3 weeks before our wedding we found out that Kristian has been reassigned to live in Belle Chasse, LA. It's scary but it's something that was going to be done eventually...whether we moved to a different town in Illinois or out of state due to something like this. I've lived in Illinois my entire life so this is something that will be very different for me but fun. I'll get to be a wife and a mother in our own home. [We live with my parents].

July 17th is the day we are moving and the day that is coming way too fast. I have amazing friends here that are old and new. My block friends are priceless and our children get along so well they're all best friends. My friends from grade school[sixpack] are just as amazing and all graduating from college this year.

This blog will be about our trip from Illinois to Louisiana everything in between and back again. Something that will give me something to do and enjoy while down there adjusting...plus keeping intouch with friends...letting them know how things are going. Enjoy.
